The tourism sector is responsible for approximately 5% of CO2 emissions, primarily transportation, and efforts are underway to reduce them. A low-carbon tourism sector focused on both growth and sustainability requires the full and consistent participation of accommodation clusters, air and land transportation. In solving these problems, great importance is given to innovations in energy use and resources, especially renewable energy sources. Carbon footprint calculation tools measure the hotel’s climate impact by estimating total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and also provide hoteliers with advice on how to reduce these emissions. Researching the carbon footprint plays an important role in determining measures that can reduce the carbon footprint. Therefore, the main purpose of this research is to investigate the carbon footprint impacts of hotels in Bishkek and to offer suggestions for reducing the negative impacts of the tourism sector on the ecological environment.
