Myths are narratives that have the potential to be considered the first oral literature product of human history. Especially the narratives about the creation are accepted as transmitted forms of myths. When it comes to the legends, although historical data can be reached from them, they do not give crystal clear infor mation about date and time. Legends are narratives that were formed after myths and still continue to form. The subjects and heroes in the legends and myths are progressing to reshape under the umbrella of art, take on a different identity and body. This situation directly attributes a great importance to myths and legends in understanding or fully comprehending the works of art in every field produced in each period of history. Especially the fact that the meanings of the images used in myths and legends have always corresponded in art makes it valuable to know which meanings these images were used in the first narratives of humanity. In this study, the readability of artistic narratives of sculpture and ceramic art as well as mythological and legendary fictions were analyzed comparatively through selected works of four different artists. Especially Zumrud-u Anka/Simurg (Phoenix), cranes and peacocks, the way and purpose of handling the image of bird in mythology and art is emphasized. As a result, while emphasizing the effect of myths on art through bird images, mythical heroes and mythological creatures passed through the filter of the artist and reincarnated in the values in his world, the way they reflect these values and turned into a different myth. It has been remembered through myths and legends that the fears of primitive human are common, and therefore the methods of overcoming their fears although there are differences between their geographies and cultures. When it is accepted that art is a universal language and its meaning and form are shaped by human existence, it should be considered as natural for people to give similar or common reactions and behaviors to similar events. Therefore, it will be natural to establish a certain relationship between the impressions and perceptions he leaves on the artist although the bird image is expressed by different artists in various styles and with different compositions. By this study, it will be seen in the sections where the works of the artists selected as examples for the subject are examined, although the period, narrative, style and way of expressing himself vary with art, the meaning of mythological and legendary motives that are encountered in art does not change. To put it more clearly, motifs such as bird in mythology and legends have been included in the common heritage of humanity for centuries, including a long adventure. When art is at stake, it is possible that the same motifs are included in art as a material or the artist refers to them in his way to express. Therefore, images in myths and legends appear as a rare indicator of continuity in art. To make it clearly, the fact that the motifs found in the first oral and written examples of humanity, and also in myths and legends, have been used in art in the same or similar meanings both in the past and today, can be considered as an indication that the relationship between today and the past will be everlasting especially in art.
