This research aims to examine the impact of preserving and celebrating gastronomic traditions in Hatay on emotional well-being following the city’s designation as a UNESCO Gastronomy City. The research was informed by an evaluation of existing literature and a qualitative methodology, which involved conducting face-to-face interviews. The participants indicated that culinary traditions and celebrations serve to reinforce the bonds between family members and friends, and provide an opportunity to address emotional needs and repair relationships. Such events serve to reinforce social connections, enhance feelings of attachment to one’s social group, and have a beneficial impact on social interactions. Furthermore, it was emphasised that culinary traditions play a significant role in the preservation of cultural identity, and that the continuation of these traditions fosters social harmony and cultural diversity. In conclusion, the preservation and celebration of culinary traditions in Hatay has been found to increase emotional well-being, ensure the sustainability of cultural heritage, and strengthen social ties.
