Abstract

The terms "sign" and "symbol" have often been used with similar meanings and functions in several different fields (religion, science, art, philosophy, linguistic, semiotics, etc.). This causes not only terminological confusion, but also creates paradoxes as disorders in understanding and perceiving, and confusions of mind as to what, where, and how these words are to be perceived and used. This article aims to contribute to delineating sign and symbol.
