Özet

Aim: This study aimed to determine the magnet hospital characteristics of public and private hospitals, to measure their technical performance and to determine the effect of magnet characteristics on their technical performance. Method: The descriptive and relational type of research was conducted between August 2023 and March 2024 with 24 public and 21 private hospitals operating in Ankara Province and nurses working in these hospitals. The data obtained from the nurses were obtained through the Introductory Information Form and the Magnet Hospital Characteristics Scale (EOM II), and the data obtained from the hospitals were obtained through the Ankara Provincial Health Directorate. Descriptive statistics, Mann Whitney U test, data envelopment analysis and simple linear regression analysis were used in the analysis of the data. Results: According to results, 80.7% of the nurses were female, 68% were undergraduates, and the average of the Magnet Hospital Characteristics Scale for the hospitals was determined as 2.37 for public hospitals and 2.46 for private hospitals. The average technical performance efficiency score for public hospitals was determined as 0.63, while it was determined as 0.78 for private hospitals. A significant difference was observed in terms of the hospital status variable in terms of the magnet hospital characteristics and technical performance of the hospitals. It was determined that the magnet hospital characteristics had a significant, positive and linear effect on their technical performance. Conclusion: It was concluded that the magnet hospital characteristics of public and private hospitals were at a low level, but the magnet characteristics of private hospitals were higher than public hospitals and the technical performance efficiency scores of private hospitals were higher than public hospitals. However, it was concluded that as the magnet hospital characteristics of hospitals increased, their technical performance efficiency also increased.
