In the early years following the establishment of the People's Republic of China, the government established several institutions in Beijing dedicated to Tibetan-related research, publicity, and other endeavours, recruiting Tibetan intellectuals to work there. Consequently, Tibetan intellectuals began to settle and reside in the capital as a distinct group. This study employs in-depth interviews and questionnaire surveys to examine the social interactions of Tibetan intellectuals working in Beijing after the establishment of the People's Republic of China (PRC), along with the factors influencing these interactions. The findings reveal that internal interactions predominate among Tibetan intellectuals in Beijing; within these internal circles, workplaces serve as primary organisers of activities; meaningful interactions with other ethnic groups are influenced by individuals' prior social experiences and language proficiency; neighbourly relations are chiefly shaped by housing arrangements; and the majority of interviewees exhibit a relatively tolerant attitude towards inter-ethnic marriage.
