Özet
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has significantly transformed educational practices, particularly in the domain of language and writing instruction. This study explores the evolving role of AI in education, focusing on its pedagogical potential, practical applications, and associated challenges. Drawing on current developments in generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and similar platforms, the study examines how AI can support writing instruction through personalized prompts, real-time feedback, adaptive learning, and creative content generation. The study highlights key instructional applications, including AI-assisted brainstorming, automated grammar and style feedback, story generation, and collaborative writing activities. It also discusses how AI can enhance differentiated instruction by tailoring tasks to students’ proficiency levels and interests. In addition, the role of AI in assessment is addressed, particularly its potential to provide immediate formative feedback while allowing teachers to focus on higherorder evaluation. At the same time, the study critically considers the limitations and risks of AI integration, including concerns related to accuracy, bias, over-reliance, and the potential impact on students’ creativity and originality. Emphasis is placed on the importance of developing AI literacy among both teachers and students to ensure informed, ethical, and effective use of these technologies. Overall, this study argues that AI should be viewed not as a threat but as a complementary tool that can enhance teaching and learning when used thoughtfully. By balancing innovation with critical awareness, educators can harness AI to support more engaging, efficient, and personalized learning environments.
