Language has two dimensions which are understanding and telling. Speaking is included in telling dimension of the language and is considered as the basic tool for self-expression. Attitude is the tendency of the individuals to react to the cases or objects around them. Students are expected to improve a positive attitude towards speaking activity in education process. In this research, it is proposed to determine the attitudes of teacher candidates towards oral expression and Oral Expression course. Moreover, it is also aimed at finding out whether the gender of the teacher candidates affects their attitudes towards Oral Expression course and oral expression. 749 teacher candidates participated in study. As a result, it is determined that teacher candidates substantially develop a positive attitude towards Oral Expression course and oral expression, and gender variable has no effect on their attitudes.
Dilin anlama ve anlatma olmak üzere iki boyutu vardır. Konuşma dilin anlatma boyutu içinde yer almakta ve kendini ifade etmenin temel aracını oluşturmaktadır. Tutum ise bireyin çevresindeki herhangi olgu veya nesneye karşı sahip olduğu tepki eğilimidir. Eğitim öğretim sürecinde öğrencilerin konuşma etkinliğine karşı olumlu tutum geliştirmesi beklenmektedir. Araştırmada, öğretmen adaylarının sözlü anlatıma ve Sözlü Anlatım dersine yönelik tutumları belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra öğrencilerin tutumlarında cinsiyet faktörünün etkili olup olmadığı da tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışmaya 749 öğretmen adayı katılmıştır. Sonuçta öğretmen adaylarının çoğunlukla Sözlü Anlatım dersine ve sözlü anlatıma yönelik olumlu tutum geliştirdikleri tespit edilmiş, cinsiyet değişkeninin tutumlar üzerinde etkili olmadığı belirlenmiştir.
