Özet

In this study, the role of Machiavelli in the emergence of modern state the:my is discussed. Machiavellli analyzed the new concept of power born with modernity in the most realistic way. He approached politics from a realistic perspective. In this respect, he argues that political power should be the only one. This approach means a radical break with the medieval tradition in which political power is shared between the king, the Church and the aristocrats. Machiavelli also focuses on administrative techniques through virtu and fortuna. His latest contribution to the theory of the state is to introduce the secular state model. In this context, Machiavelli argued that politics and morality are separate levels and said that statesmen should not act with a restrictive outside the interests of the state when making political decisions.
