The first issue of Millî Folklor was published in 1989 and then it has been abstracted in some indexes and databases since 1998. Nowadays it is being abstracted in AHCI, CSA, EBSCO, ERIH, GJS, IBSS, MLA, SCOPUS, SJR, TA, UPD and in the national database named as TÜBıTAK ULAKBıM TR DıZıN. The Journal has become an international journal of cultural studies through publishing, hard copy and electronic versions of 120 issues covering approximately 20.000 pages, on folklore and associated studies, field works, researches, translations and book reviews. Millî Folklor gain an important place in folklore studies in Turkey and throughout the world by means of its varied publications covering from special issues, field works and translations to book reviews. The success of the Journal closely related to the Roundtable meetings organized during the past ten years. Millî Folklor Yesterday and Tomorrow Roundtable Meeting, firstly held on 21 February 2009, get the academic representatives, editorial board and advisory board to convene. These meetings have become a tradition where the past and future of the journal is discussed and decisions are taken in a shared manner. The eleventh of the meeting series was organized on 9 February 2019. Four issues in 2018 has been published timely as planned, consist of in total 46 abstracted articles, 4 field works, 12 book reviews, 2 news and 1 translation. Increasing citation rate in 2018 with regard to the previous year is seen based on the metric of journal’s citation graphic. The journal, abstracted for 12 years in AHCI, has taken a place near the mid of the citation rank comparing to the remaining folklore journals.Citations of the widerange scientific areas to the articles that are publised in the journal reflects interdisciplinary approach. It can be seen that various articles published by different diciplines ranging from e.g. computer sciences to religion, from archeology to architecture last but not least from public relations to environmental sciences as well as ecology cite the journal.
