Özet

The mosaics unearthed in the archaeological excavations are mostly found in a deteriorated state, both in the preparation layers and in the tesellatum layer, with their disintegration and deficiencies. Reintegration of mosaics found after the excavation, which has deficiencies in the tessellatum or missing carrier layers, is carried out together with other effective conservation practices. reintegration are generally made in order to perceive the size and size of the mosaic, to make the existing pieces stronger with the reintegration, or to display only the aesthetic integrity. When we turn our direction to applications; In general, it is seen that adherence to the international principles accepted in protection is observed, but in some applications, it is seen that interventions that go far beyond the concept of protection and that can be considered excessive are made. This study aims to explain and scrutinize a subject that has not been studied extensively in the field of conservation by addressing the completion practices in mosaics. As a matter of fact, while the reintegration applications in mosaics from the ancient period to the present are examined, it is aimed to introduce contemporary applications by revealing the differences in style and approach and to evaluate them from a conservation point of view.
