Abstract

This paper aimed to re-explore Keloǧlan (The Bald Boy) figure as an archetype of the bald ancestor (Taz Kan) in Turkish Oral Narrative. Myths usually have a wide span of distribution, but especially the trickster myth spreads all around the world. What we asserted in this paper is the relation between the Turkish Bald Boy Keloǧlan and this oldest archetype of the Tricskter. Another point to imply is the connection of Keloǧlan to his mother and the Bad Boy Köse. Those characters are always present in the same story and it seems like they have got the same root. We are trying to emphasize that, the female, demonic and the bald ancestor, Taz Kan in Turkish culture is splinted to Keloǧlan, his mother and the Köse in the Turkish Oral Narrative respectively. And this can be called as a fragmentation of myth in general.
