Özet

It is a widespread belief that cultural transmission occurs linearly between generations, from elders to younger ones, from older people who have seen more in the world and have matured to newborn and inexperienced children. However, contrary to popular belief, the transfer is circular. Although it is widely accepted that traditional transfer is linear, modern life and the global age have reversed the commonly known aspects of transfer models. The reasons for this can generally be seen as technological developments and modern lifestyles. The cultural transfer of the game has also evolved towards a reverse transfer model rather than a linear one. The inclusion of different generations, based on criteria such as character, culture, and innovation, in the years they were born, causes cultural differences between the lower and upper generations. Differences in life between the first and last generations in the same era, with the rapid changes of the era, we face a period in which we cannot keep up with this pace and in which suitable environments cannot be created for cultural transfer. For this reason, it is understood that mass media and the digital world, which directly affect the lifestyles of generations, cause adaptation problems in cultural transmission. The study suggests that incompatible generations are in a state of transfer with each other, but the transfer occurs in a non-linear manner, and this model is becoming increasingly widespread. This study primarily focuses on the differences between generations. It is a fact that differences between generations are also reflected in game culture. It is known that traditional games have become increasingly widespread, often referred to as ‘sinking into oblivion.’ The young generation, on the other hand, lives and transmits a game culture that is far removed from traditional games within the digital gaming culture. Even though the elderly played traditional games during their childhood and youth, they cannot pass them on to the younger generations. Transfer processes are carried out by young people trying to teach digital games to the elderly, forcing them to adapt to digital culture. In the study, examples of these processes will be included, and suggestions will be made by considering the issue of the continuation of reverse cultural transfer with traditional games rather than digital games.
