Traditions, customs, beliefs and practices on death constituted a mass density of a concept that is very rich in Turkish. As a requirement of viability; acquisition of new meanings, differentiation, decrease in use, changes in meanings, semantic shift in some of these terms, passing through a filter of centuries or even thousands of years o is perceived as a natural process. Today, it is normal to see differences among some terms seeming like synonym and being used interchangeably. In this article, cultural analysis is performed on some terms about death culture which are widely in use.. Features of semantic shift, alteration and being contrary observed in the usage of the terms such as dead, to bury, condolence, rest in peace, etc are emphasized. These problems concerning linguistics, theology and folklore wait to be resolved. Floc of problems on transition periods and death which is the last of these periods haven't been handled adequately till this year in which we celebrate the centenary of folklore. Words seeming like detail and small things are the indicators of language and culture richness. These indicators can reveal the truest expressions of the civilization level of a society.
