© 2014, Milli Folklor. All right reserved.When the mythological texts are analyzed especially in the context of hero and power relationship the three layered journey can easily be observed. These three layers of power are divine, political and the customary powers. In this study the term of kut will be evaluated as a term that consists the three dimensions of the power. Thus the term kut will be examined in the epic of Oguz Kagan with in the context of axis mundi and archetypes. There is a strong link between the journey of hero as a self-archetype and his power transformation processes. This strong link refers that the hero as a self-archetype includes the three dimensions of power. This shows that the hero is a center like axis mundi of the epic. The hero as a self-archetype uses the invasive features of collective unconscious. With this potency the hero can be universal and stands in the axis mundi of the three dimensions of power, the power of god, the power of politics and the customary power. Therefore in this study Oguz Kağan is analyzed with the ways of his journey of reaching the power states. And besides this study demonstrates how the Oguz Kagan occupies the axis mundi in power relations as an archetypical and divine hero, and how he gathers around him celestial and customary power within the axis mundi consept of the “kut”, which means sacred in Turkish. When we read within the context of archetype relating with collective unconsciousness and the hero that is both stands at the center and celestial world, it can be easily observed that Oguz Kagan reaches his own archetype as hero that brings civilization.
