Prof. MUSTAFA NECATİ BARIŞ

Originally from Elazığ, he was born in Bursa in 1981. He completed his primary and secondary education in Yozgat and his high school education in Kahramanmaraş. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Divinity in 2003. He also completed his master's degree (2006) and doctorate (2013) at the same university. Between 2001 and 2016, he worked at various levels of the Presidency of Religious Affairs. In 2016, he was appointed as Assistant Professor to the Department of Siyer-i Nebi and Islamic History at the Faculty of Divinity, Yozgat Bozok University. After serving there for approximately three and a half years, he transferred to the Faculty of Divinity at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University in 2020 and became an Associate Professor in the same year. He spent approximately six years in Germany, first in Aachen (2010-2015), then in Frankfurt and Cologne (2024), for professional and foreign language training, followed by research and practical work related to his field. He has been serving as the Head of the Department of Islamic History at the Faculty of Divinity at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University for approximately five years and has published international books, book chapters, articles, and symposium papers in the field of Early Islamic History. Barış is married with two children and speaks Arabic, English, and German.
