Prof. Dr. YAŞAR SELÇUK ŞENER

Faculty Member of the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage
He was born in Artvin in 1968. He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History and Geography, Archeology and Art History Department, Art History Department in 1988. He studied at the Department of Conservation of Archaeological Artifacts at the A. De Stefano School in Salemi, Sicily, Italy, between 1989-1992. In 1992, he attended the Restoration and Conservation Specialization Course of Stone Artifacts at the Central Restoration Institute (I.C.R. / Istituto Centrale Per Il Restauro) in Rome. He completed his MA in 1993 at Ankara University, Institute of Social Sciences, Art History Department, and his PhD in 2000. He became an assistant professor in 2008 and an associate professor in the same year.
Between 1991 and 2011, he worked at Ankara University, Başkent Vocational School, Department of Technical Programs, Restoration - Conservation Program. He served as "Department Head" between 2004-2007, "Assistant Director" between 2005-2010, "School Board Member and School Board Member". In 2009, he was appointed to the "Associate Professor" staff at the same school.
In 2011, he was appointed to the staff of "Associate Professor" at Gazi University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Cultural Heritage. In the same department, he was appointed as a "Professor" in 2013, and served as "Department Vice President" (2011-2015), "Department Head" (2015-16) and "Dean" (2016-2020) as a faculty member. He continues to work as a faculty member in Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, which was founded in 2018 with the division of the University.
Scientific research, publication, and project implementation studies consist of "Preservation in archaeological excavations and sites, Conservation and Restoration of Stone, Wall Painting, Mosaic, Ceramic and Tile Artifacts", "Use of Materials in Medieval Buildings" and "Conservation of Building Materials in Historical Monuments". Şener is a member of Anatolian Art Historians Association (ASTAD), Turkish Mosaic Research Association (AIEMA-TURKEY) and International Committee for the Conservation of Mosaics (ICCM), ICOM (International Council of Museums) and KUMİD (Friends of Cultural Heritage Association).
